LEXINGTON, KY (WAVE) - Hundreds of UK fans packed Blue Grass Airport on Tuesday so they could welcome home the Wildcats.
The enthusiasm in the crowd was contagious as fans held signs, cheered and were decked out in blue.
The fans waited in the hot sun for hours just for a glimpse.
"For the brow! For the brow! We love the brow," said two Cats fans.
"To support my cats," said UK fan Morgan Esposito. "Number 8, baby! We bringing it home."
"I want to meet John Calipari and Anthony Davis," said 8-year-old Rakim Givens.
Monday night's game still had fans reliving the win.
"I thought it would be a blow out game -- Kansas would win. But in the end, Kentucky prevailed," said 12-year-old Jack Renaud.
When the Cats arrived at the airport shortly after 3:00 p.m., they made a grand entrance with a water cannon salute.
When the players got off the plane the crowd went wild. The players walked up to the fence, waved and showed off their trophy.
"It puts a personal touch on it," said UK fan Steve Day. "To see Miller go right up to the fence and hold the trophy up... that was awesome. Little personal touch."
