Waste overflow spills into the Ohio RIver

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A waste over flow has caused officials to advise people to stay out of the Ohio River.

MSD Officials told WAVE 3 that because of an electrical problem at the Starkley Pumping Station has caused an overflow of raw wastewater to be released into the Ohio River.

Officials estimate about two and a half million gallons of waste water made its way into the Ohio, but they said there is no way to clean up after the release.

MSD Officials said you should avoid contact with any water in the river for 48 hours.
