LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville mother goes to the grocery store, then finds her son shot to death inside his bedroom.
15-year-old Gregory Holt's body was found around 1:30 Wednesday morning in the 1600 block of Clover Street, that's off of Dixie Highway. The coroner say Holt died from multiple gun shot wounds.
Kendra Wilson said she horrified to find her son.
"I would have took those bullets for my child and I feel like I let him down to go to Kroger's to get him some food and I wasn't here to protect him," said Wilson.
Wilson told WAVE 3, when she got home from the grocery store with her niece, she found her apartment door kicked in. She said Holt's bedroom door was locked, with five bullet holes in it.
"My niece goes in his room and screams auntie, auntie, and says Gregory is in here dead," said Wilson.
Wilson says Holt loved sports and video games. He was a student at Farnsley Middle School on spring break.
Wilson says when she found her son's body she immediately ran for help next door where a Metro police officer lives. Holt was pronounced dead at the scene.
"No matter what, he was innocent," said Wilson. "He was in his own home. You are always supposed to be safe in your own home.'
Wilson said she doesn't understand why someone would murder her son and doesn't believe it was a burglary.
"What they came in and took was my son's life," said Wilson. "He didn't deserve that he was a good child and always has been. That is all I really want is justice, so I can sleep eat, so I can move on with my life. Right now, I'm at standstill."
