Arson squad investigating afternoon house fire

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The Louisville Metro Arson Squad is investigating the cause of an afternoon house fire.

At 1:23 p.m. Thursday, Louisville Fire & Rescue crew responded to the calls at a home located in the 6700 block of Seminole Avenue, just east of Iroquois Park.

According to fire officials, the crew was able to make it to the scene in two minutes where they found heavy fire blowing through the back of the home.

Video from Air 3 showed firefighters on the outside of the second floor of the home as they inspected the damage, which included a rear bedroom and three other rooms.

No one in the family of six was at the home during the fire and no one was injured. Firefighters were able to rescue two dogs who suffered from smoke inhalation but are expected to be ok.

The family will be receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
