Barge worker finds body in Ohio River

ELIZABETH, IN (WAVE) – A second dead body has been discovered in the Ohio River.

Around 9:45 a.m. Saturday a crew member on a barge spotted the body and called the Coast Guard.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources was able to retrieve the body near 7-Mile Island around 11 a.m.

At this point there is no word on the cause of death. The man did have a wallet with family phone numbers and authorities are trying to contact family.

This is the second body found in the Ohio this week. On April 8, the body of 59-year-old Carlos Burns of Jeffersonville was discovered north of Horseshoe Casino. His death is ruled as a drowning, no foul play is suspected.

It is unclear if these deaths are related.
