LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The family of 15-year-old Gregory Holt continues praying for closure and answers after the Farnsley Middle School student was found murdered inside his mother's apartment on Wednesday, April 11.

"He was a great teenager. He was a great kid. He didn't get into trouble," said his aunt, Brenda Simpson. "He won't get to graduate.  He won't get to go to his prom.  He didn't even get to go to high school, but we thank God for the time he gave him to us."

Holt was on Spring Break Wednesday, when his mother said she went to the store, returned home, and found him shot to death multiple times inside his bedroom.

"I would have took those bullets for my child. You're always supposed to be safe in your own home," Kendra Wilson told WAVE 3 News.

At a packed vigil Sunday afternoon, dozens of friends, family, and fellow classmates came to remember the good times, while fighting back tears.

That includes his former girlfriend who had a picture of the two skating put on a shirt.

"With him being on my mind, yeah, it's going to be a little different," Katie Cartwright said.

Life will be different for all who knew him, as questions go unanswered as to who murdered Holt and why.

"Whoever did it, I pray for them. We're not going to judge. We're not going to accuse.  Only God knows the truth, and I believe that before you leave this world, you reap what you sow, and I believe whoever did it, they're going to reap it," Simpson said.

Anyone with information should call or text the anonymous tip line at 574-LMPD.

Holt's visitation will be Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm at the 12th Street Baptist Church. His funeral will then follow.
