TAYLORSVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An accident involving a school bus and two other vehicles in Taylorsville sent one woman and a child to a hospital Wednesday morning.

Investigators said a car leaving Spencer County Elementary School on Highway 44 turned into the bus' path. After colliding with the bus, the car spun and hit a second car. The driver of the first car was ejected, and her car caught on fire.

Other drivers pulled the woman to safety. She was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The driver of the second car suffered a knee injury and was treated at the scene.

Neither the school bus driver nor the three students and monitor aboard the bus was injured.

Taylorsville Police Chief Toby Lewis said it appeared a driver motioned the first car into traffic, but the driver of that car did not check to see if the path was clear.

The accident happened around 7:35 a.m. Police cleared the scene about 50 minutes later.
