FRANKFORT, KY (WAVE) – A Franklin County middle school was on lockdown Friday morning after a student brought a pellet gun to school.
The lockdown at Bondurant Middle School lasted about an hour and "was strictly a precautionary measure," said Franklin Country Sheriff Pat Melton.
Melton said the incident happened after a school resource deputy received information that a student had a handgun in his waistband.
A search recovered a pellet gun that looked similar to a .45 caliber handgun. The pellet gun and a hunting knife were confiscated, and the student was taken into custody.
