LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE)- Thousands of people packed the Waterfront in downtown Louisville for Thunder Over Louisville. This year's theme was "A Star-Spangled Blast."
The allure of the bursts of color captivated thousands. Earlier in the day, the ground was a little wet, but that didn't stop quite a few people from coming down early to get a good seat.
"We got here at 9:00 a.m.," said one woman who snagged a handful of front-of-the-lawn seats with a few of her friends. "We've got front row seats."
A seat to see the many aircraft, old and new, performing daring aerial displays during the air show.
"I like the jets when they're loud. You can see the fire behind them." said Anthony Bates as he watched the air show.
The variety of vendor food was plentiful as were smiles and jackets for the weather. After night fell, the spectacle of the nation's largest fireworks display, by Zambelli Internationale, illuminated the sky. The pyrotechnics bursting in air, captivating the masses.
"I see many colors," said one man as he watched the night sky burst into color.
"We love it." "It's great." Shouted others.
"I love it this year," said one woman as the fireworks burst behind her.
