Neighbors talk about woman found dead in her home

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Homicide detectives are investigating the death of 59-year-old Carolyn Lou Brown. She was found in her east end home, but it has not been determined how she died.

Police are still labeling this as a death investigation, but LMPD detectives say the scene was unusual.

Brown lived in the Chamberlain Place subdivision on Sandbourne Way. For neighbors like Jennifer Luce, word of a death investigation is a bit unsettling.

"It's a little scary," said Luce. "You always wonder what's going to happen, it's a quiet little neighborhood and we've never had any problems before."

Police say a family member alerted police after they were told to come to the home. Police have not ruled out a break-in, but they do say that it does not appear there was forced entry.

We're told Brown lived alone.

"There are certain circumstances that they are looking at," said Lt. Barry Wilkerson, LMPD. "We do have a background on this individual and again we are following through on those situations."

While details are still vague, police say they have made runs to Brown's house before.

"There was a cop car about a month ago and then about a year ago we saw a bunch of cop cars and ambulances in front of her house," said Luce.

If you have any information that could help police, you are asked to give them a call at 574-LMPD.
