LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Valley Station teenager who went missing Thursday night has been found. The coroner confirms Dallin Clevenger was found in a creek in the Autumn Lake mobile home park.
There's no official cause of death at this point, but the coroner believes 13-year-old Dallin may have drowned. He was found just beyond that tree line in a creek early this morning after police searched for hours, hoping to find him alive.
Consoling her son can only do so much right now. 13-year-old John Bensing can't help but think had been with his friend Thursday night, would Dallin Clevenger still be alive?
"He was funny. We always hung out and did stuff together like basketball," said Bensing. He, like everyone else, is trying to figure out what happened to Dallin in the hours before his body was found in the creek behind Autumn Lake Mobile Home Park. It's an area everyone here is familiar with, including Bensing. "We'd mostly fish. If we caught something, we'd throw it back. We'd go hang out in the woods for a little bit," he said.
Police said Dallin's parents last saw him around 8 p.m., by midnight police were out searching. A few hours later they confirmed what everyone hoped wouldn't be the case. Divers found Dallin's body in the water. He didn't make it. "It's pretty devastating to hear about this," said neighbor Michelle Pollard.
It's hard to find anyone in his neighborhood that didn't know the 13 year old. "He was a good, outgoing child. Friendly personality. He had a lot of friends around here," explained Pollard.
That's the one thing his best friend John says he wants everyone to know now. "He's a good person," said Bensing. A person that will be truly missed.
