Cut fiber optic line disrupts phone service in 3 Indiana counties

SALEM, IN (WAVE) – A cut fiber optic line in Salem, IN is causing phone outages across parts of at least three Indiana counties, according to the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department.

Landline service and Verizon and AT&T cell phone service was out in some areas of Washington, Lawrence and Orange Counties.

911 calls were being rerouted to Crawford County dispatchers.

There was no late word on how the fiber optic line was cut, and crews were uncertain when the line would be repaired.
