Heightened security lifted at University of Louisville Hospital

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – University of Louisville Hospital was placed on heightened security after shooting victims were transported there for treatment.

Melissa Dever with UofL Hospital confirmed the heightened security as a precautionary measure and that no incidents have occurred at the hospital at this time.

The heightened security came after three people were killed and others were injured in two separate shootings a few houses apart in west Louisville Thursday afternoon.

Police said four people were shot Thursday afternoon near 32nd and Kentucky in Louisville's west end. Two people were killed, a third person suffered life-threatening injuries and a fourth person was left with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.

A short time later at around 2:30 p.m., a Louisville Metro Police officer shot and injured a woman suspected of shooting and killing another woman just down the street. The injured suspect was transported to UofL Hospital. Her condition is not known.
