EAST PRICE HILL, OH (FOX19) -

A man charged with stabbing a 12-year-old girl and her mother in East Price Hill has been indicted.

Police found the bodies of Nicole Smith, 39, and her daughter, Stephanie Smith, 12, inside an apartment on Woodlawn Avenue.

Cincinnati police arrested Brian Everett, 35, and charged him with two counts of murder. He says he stabbed the pair in self defense.

Everett is being held on a $2 million bond.

Stephanie was a fifth grader at Oyler School in Price Hill.

"She was your classic Oyler student, full of life, fun, excited about everything," says Oyler Principal Craig Hockenberry.

Hockenberry says Smith has two older siblings both students at Oyler and several staff members and teachers know the family well.

"We just worked really closely with the police and supported them any way that we could and we've been reaching out to the family already," says Hockenberry.

Cincinnati Police Department Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate this offense.
