LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The Louisville Metro Police SWAT team has taken into custody someone they are calling a "person of interest" in a homicide investigation.

The SWAT team arrived on the scene of a deadly shooting in the 700 block of Gagel Avenue near Iroquois Park Friday morning to serve a search warrant, but by early afternoon, it was serving another search warrant at a different home fewer than three miles away. The person police wanted was taken into custody around 2:30 p.m. at a home on Grand Ridge Court.

Police said this latest development was related to the homicide at 738 Gagel Avenue in which a man in his 60s was shot to death.

A family member of the victim called police at 3:58 a.m.Friday to report the shooting, according to investigators. Police said they believed the man was killed not more than a few hours before they were notified of the homicide.

Officers said they believe the victim was targeted and that no one else in the neighborhood was in danger.

Police have not released the name of the person they are holding, but say the house where he was located belongs to a relative. The coroner's office has not identified the shooting victim.

Gagel Avenue was closed between Manslick Road and Dixie Highway while the shooting scene was active. It was cleared by early afternoon when the SWAT team moved to the Park Ridge Subdivision, south of Iroquois Park, to serve another search warrant in the case.
