MT. WASHINGTON, KY (WAVE) - A teen was killed after he was hit while riding his bike Monday night in Mt. Washington.

According to police, 15-year-old Prescott Goodman was crossing Highway 31 in front of the Kroger around 10 o'clock when the accident occurred.

Police say Prescott died at the scene.

They say it looks like the driver of a car on Highway 31 didn't see Prescott and he may have not seen the car.

"He was kind of my role model," said his friend, E. J. Judd. "He would teach me a few things and I would get used to it and he would teach me a little bit more."

If it had two wheels, his friends say Prescott was ready to tackle it.

"I can't describe it," another friend, Dylan Crowe, said. "That's how good he was. If he didn't get hit, he probably would have gone pro. He's just, he's just really good."

Police say it looks like the driver of a car on Highway 31 didn't see Prescott and he may have not seen the car.

"The indications are that he was in the crosswalk or very close to the crosswalk but that time of night, crossing across that road, it was very dangerous," said Bullitt County Sheriff's Sergeant Mike Murdoch.

"I was on my way home and I heard the siren, but I didn't think nothing of it because I didn't know about him," Crowe said. "Then this girl called me and told me someone got hit so I started calling people to find out who it was."

The day after, Judd and Crowe returned to the place where their friend lost his life.

Judd said he wanted to come, "for my friend. Just to see what he went through. Just to see."

That he died on his bike, doing something that he loved so much and had done so often, makes it even harder to understand.

"It's just not fair," Crowe said. "He doesn't deserve it. He was a good kid."

Bullitt County Schools released at statement that read, "We are saddened by the tragic loss of this youth and extend our deepest sympathy to the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Prescott and the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident."

John Roberts with Bullitt County Schools says Prescott just completed the 8th grade at Mt. Washington Middle School and would have been a freshman at Bullitt East High School in the fall.

Right now this remains under investigation, but charges are not expected to be filed against the driver.
