LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – There will soon be a new place for Kentuckiana children and their families to get help.

Wednesday, ground was broken for Kosair Charities Child Advocacy Center.

The new center will help families and children dealing with child abuse and will be the headquarters of Louisville Metro Police Department Crimes Against Children Unit.

Kentucky's Secretary for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services Audrey Haynes said she believes there are benefits of having social workers and other children advocates together in the same building.

The Family & Children's Place serves approximately 6,500 children and families annually throughout Kentuckiana.
