Hearing held for man accused of using hatchet as murder weapon

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) – A detective took the stand during the probable cause hearing for the man accused of killing another man with a hatchet.

Jamie Wagers, 24, is charged with murder.

Investigators claim Wagers hit Christian Higdon, 20, in the head with a hatchet and chased Higdon as he called out for help.

Kentucky State Police Detective Jonathan Vaughn said, "He asserted that he struck the victim in self defense stating the victim got up in his face and he told him 3 times to leave."

Wagers is currently locked up in the Hardin County Detention Center. He is being held on a $500,000 cash bond.
