Trial delayed for man accused of torturing, killing cats

SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The trial for the man accused of torturing and killing cats he found on Craigslist has been delayed.

Alex Phelps trial in Bullitt County was supposed to begin June 28, but has been pushed back to September.

Police said Phelps was performing medical experiments on the cats.

The Commonwealth's Attorney's office said prosecutors in Jefferson County and Bullitt Counties came to a joint decision to dismiss the Jefferson County charges against Phelps.

Phelps remains on home incarceration with a $25,000 bond.
