JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - A southern Indiana man is charged with several felonies for what police said he did to his own 4-year-old son.
Inside Jeffersonville's Claysburg Tower, police said a child suffered the unthinkable all at the hands of his father.
"Burns on the chest and genitalia and scarring and scabs on the back and buttocks and large lumps on the little head of the 4-year-old boy," said Clark County Deputy Prosecutor Linda Lamping.
Court documents said the father took a lighter and burned the little boy in at least two different places.
The boys, ages 4 and 11, told investigators the abuse did not stop there.
"They say that the little boy was burned by the father and that he was beaten and that he was punched and stomped on by the father," Lamping said.
The boys were staying with their biological father, Logan Wallace, 34, in Jeffersonville.
Wallace told police his rampage was prompted by the 4-year-old urinating on the floor.
After their 10 day stay was up, police said Wallace sent his children alone, on a TARC bus, back to their mother's home in Louisville.
The mother said she noticed something was wrong, and immediately took the 4-year-old to the hospital.
"They performed tests and found out there was a laceration on the liver that was causing internal bleeding," Lamping said.
Had it not be caught, health officials said the 4-year-old could have died.
Wallace is facing felony battery and neglect charges, and if convicted, could face some lengthy jail time.
"Indiana law does of course presume that all citizens are innocent until proven guilty, however the advisory sentence on all of these charges is 93 years," Lamping said.
Wallace has a criminal past and remains behind bars on a $250,000 full cash bond.
