SALEM, IN (WAVE) - The Salem Indiana School Board met to decide the fate of a middle school teacher accused of throwing a graduation party, which allegedly involved underaged drinking.

Laura Mahuron is accused of throwing the party, for her 18-year-old daughter, back in May.

The school board decided to suspend Mahuron for one year Monday night.

Mahuron taught science and social studies at Salem Middle School.

An anonymous caller led deputies to the house where they said they found around two-dozen underage teens openly drinking. Deputies do not know how many people were at the party because when they arrived, they say a number of them ran into the woods.
