NEW CASTLE, IN (WAVE) - An Indiana woman, who is lucky to be one of the survivors of the Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster, spoke about the nightmare.

Erika Abott, of New Castle, Indiana was aboard the luxurious Costa Concordia - dubbed Titanic 2. Over 4,200 passengers and crew members had a relatively smooth seven day sail off the western coast of Italy.

"At 9:30 there was a big noise, I was in the bathroom at the time," said Abott. "And the light flickered and I said 'Oh my gosh,' and I came out and my girlfriend said 'Erika come, come.' It was chaos. Kids were screaming and everybody was scared. You know you look at peoples faces, they all were scared to death. Actually there was nobody to help you, you know. You don't see nobody, you don't hear nobody. All the members of the crew, I didn't see nobody really. There was no direction."

As the lifeboat headed out, about a mile away is when Erika realized the captain had hit a boulder, tearing a 160 foot gash on the ship's hull.

At least 30 people died, two are still missing.
