Lightning catches Fern Creek home on fire

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A lightning strike caught a patio home on fire in Fern Creek.

Fern Creek Fire Department, Highview Fire Department and Mount Washington Fire Department were all dispatched to the home at 8:52 p.m. Wednesday.

The departments were able to get the fire under control by 9:32 p.m.

Luckily no one was injured, but the patio home was destroyed and additional homes in the area suffered smoke and water damage.

This fire was one of four in the area firefighter were dealing with due to a storm system that moved thru shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
