LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - U of L recruit Demetrius Jackson is playing this weekend in the Bluegrass Hoops Classic at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center. Earlier this week he picked up a scholarship offer from the Cards.
The 6'1", 170 pound point guard from Marian High School in Mishawaka, Indiana is ranked by Scout.com as the 9th best point guard in the class of 2013.
He is impressed with Rick Pitino's track record. "Coach Pitino is a great guy, and a great coach," Jackson said. "They compete and win, and I really like their offense, how it is guard oriented. The guards run most of their things and create for the other players, and that really interests me."
Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey was in the stands watching Jackson on Thursday, and the Fighting Irish are among the other schools pursuing Jackson.
"I'm still wide open in my recruitment," Demetrius said. "After the July period I'm going to narrow my list down and hopefully make a decision before my high school basketball season."
He may not be ready to release a list, but he knows what he is looking for.
"Just a place I can be comfortable because when your comfortable on the court playing with a smile, you always play your best, place where I can be comfortable and a place where I can compete and win because I hate to lose," Jackson said.
