(LOUISVILLE, KY) They don't meet on the field for another five weeks, but tonight, U of L Head Coach, Charlie Strong and UK Head Coach, Joker Phillips met at the Muhammad Ali Center for the Annual Governor's Cup Dinner and Silent Auction.
For both teams, fall practice is right around the corner, and it's events like this that get their juices flowing, knowing that football season isn't very far away. "I know that it's coming, and you can just feel it coming, because you just know it's that time," said Strong. "It's hard to get away from it. It's here. Events like this signify that it's here too," commented Phillips.
Every year, former greats from both teams are honored at the dinner. This year's honorees include former U of L stars Browning Nagle and Dwayne Woodruff. The Cats were represented by Harry Jones and Sonny Collins. "To be honored kinda makes me feel old, I feel that everyday, but it's special," said Nagle.
