(LONDON, ENGLAND) Olympic swimmer and WKU grad, Claire Donahue will not attend the Opening Ceremonies on Friday.
That's because the first heat in her event, the 100 Meter Butterfly starts around 10:30am London time, which is 5:30am in Louisville. While she would love to participate in the ceremonies, competing for an Olympic Medal is more important to the first time Olympian.
"Some people will have the option to. I mean everyone has the option to, but on the first day, right after the Opening Ceremonies and walking for two hours. That would be two hours on your feet. Kinda gets to you. Especially, when you racing the next day. So, I decided it's probably best that I don't," said Donahue.
