TRIGG COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – The National Transportation Safety Board said Kentucky had received a warning about downed lights on a western Kentucky bridge a month before a barge struck it and caused a 332 foot span to collapse.
The NTSB sent a letter to Governor Steve Beshear that outlined the warning by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The span of the Eggner's Ferry Bridge was knocked out in January by an 8200 ton cargo ship, the Delta Mariner. It reopened to automotive traffic in May.
