LOUISVILLE (WAVE) - Morning commuters who use the Kennedy Bridge had a big reason to celebrate Tuesday morning: all lanes on the bridge are now open.
Construction crews reopened the northbound lanes around 7:30 Monday evening. Then the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet opened the southbound lanes in time for the Tuesday morning commute.
This comes after the ramp from eastbound 64 to northbound I-65 reopened Monday morning.
The Kennedy Bridge carries 135,000 vehicles a day along Interstate 65 across the Ohio River. Crews have been working on the Kennedy for more than a month. Lane and ramp closures on I-65 and I-64 related to the bridge work, have caused major commuting and commerce headaches for more than a month.
