LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Court documents revealed Metro police said tensions were high in the crowd in the moments before a woman was shot at a homicide scene in West Louisville.

The documents contain interviews from officers that were on the scene when police said Cheetara Goldsmith shot Mekeba Lee.

The shooting took place on May 17 in the Parkhill Neighborhood.

Police said Lee and Goldsmith were the girlfriends of two men, Craig Bland Junior, 22, and Tyson Mimms, 24, who had just shot and killed each other minutes earlier.

Officer Vadim Dales said Lee was highly emotional and cursing at the crowd.

He said he saw Goldsmith standing over Lee and firing bullets into her.

Sale said he waited until he thought he could take a safe shot and fired hitting Goldsmith.

Goldsmith survived and is awaiting trial at Metro Corrections.
