SIMPSONVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Police are looking for a suspect after a shooting at a Simpsonville apartment complex Sunday morning.
According to Shelby County Central Dispatch, they received a call just before noon of a shooting at the Meadowridge Apartment Complex.
Officers arrived to find a
Hispanic male shot in the complex's parking lot. Police say that victim had
been shot at least two times in the lower body.
While he was rushed to the
hospital, a massive search began for the suspect which included officers going
door to door.
Officers could be seen
walking up and down staircases with their weapons drawn looking for the
suspect.
"It takes a little bit of time to go through
all of the apartments that we went through just to make sure that he had not
run into any of the apartments and it was to secure the people who were here
for their safety," said Major Jason Rice with the Shelby County Sheriff's
Department.
Detectives spent Sunday
talking to witnesses, trying to form a description of the suspect.
"We do not believe the
shooter is in the area the immediate area at this time we are working on the
identification of him and location of him," Major Rice said.
The victim was taken to
University Hospital in Louisville, last listed in stable condition. Police plan
to question him about the shooting.
