LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The second person killed on August 3 in a shooting in the Shelby Park neighborhood has been identified as a teenage boy who lived in the apartment complex.
Deputy coroner Rita Taylor said Osman Omor, 16, died from multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
Louisville Metro Police have charged Ricardo Taylor with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Omor and the second victim, Tela Harvey, 25. Both were shot to death inside an apartment in the 1000 block of S. Jackson Street late on August 2.
LMPD officers were called to the Jackson Woods Apartments at 1035 S. Jackson Street around 11:45 p.m. on a report of shots fired. Officers heard more shots and saw a man, later identified as Ricardo Taylor, go into an apartment. After he refused to come out, SWAT and hostage negotiation teams were called to handle the standoff.
Ricardo Taylor was taken into custody after tear gas was fired into the apartment, ending the 5 ½ hour ordeal.
In addition to finding the bodies of Omor and Harvey, officers found a woman alive who had suffered a gunshot wound. She was taken to University Hospital for treatment. Ricardo Taylor was charged with assault and kidnapping the woman.
