LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville man is accused of leaving his 7-year-old grandson alone inside a hot car for at least 30 minutes Monday afternoon.

Richard E. Rose, 55, was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment.

According to the arrest report, Rose left the boy inside the car on the parking lot of Pull-A-Part, a used auto parts store on Recovery Road, while Rose looked for an alternator in the business's salvage yard.

Store management told a sheriff's deputy about the incident. The deputy found the child crying and sweating profusely. The report says the boy told the deputy that he was "too little to be in the car alone."

The deputy said the car was sitting in full sunlight and that the outside temperature at the time was 91 degrees. The windows were partially open.
