It shouldn't be as easy to buy a crack pipe as milk or juice in some convenience stores in West Louisville, but it is that easy.
It helps fuel the violence that seems as constant as the summer heat.
Kentucky law prohibits this of course, but it hasn't stopped sales.
The sales need to stop. Police should bring charges against the store owners. The county attorney's office should prosecute them.
Lawmakers should make violating the paraphernalia law a felony like it used to be before it was changed to a misdemeanor two years ago.
This certainly will not stop drug use and drug trafficking or stop the violence, but it will likely lessen it. Fixing big problems start with fixing the pieces that contribute to it.
