LAUREL COUNTY, KY (WAVE) -
Tornado victims from Laurel County are still receiving donations months after
the March 2 tornado.
The project started six
months ago when Heartstrings Quilt Project began seeking donations to assemble
quilts.
Over 50 quilts are now
ready to be handed out to help East Bernstadt prepare for cool weather.
Austin's Sewing Center in Fern
Creek assisted with collecting donations.
The Owner of Austin's
Sewing Center, Teresa Packer, said, "All we did was send out emails to our
customers. Donations have actually come from all over the United States. Not
just whole quilts, but people have donated fabrics, there have been a lot of
people to come together to actually make quilts."
The quilts are being
displayed throughout the next two weeks at Austin's sewing center.
