LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - As
kids in Jefferson County get ready to go back to school, Jefferson County
Public School leaders are deciding if they need more money for the classrooms.
The school system put out a
public notice that it may
consider up to a 3.4 percent increase on the property taxes it collects.
Friday evening Superintendent
Doctor Donna Hargens told WAVE 3 that this is something board members talk
about each year at this time, "This year as a routine every year, the board is
looking at the needs of the system and a possible approval of a tax increase so
all the board is doing right now is looking at the options."
The board will discuss the
proposed increase at its meeting August 27.
A school system spokesman
said the increase would add up to an additional $17 million for JCPS.
