Students loading onto a school bus.
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - It was pretty good first day for
Jefferson County Public Schools, but JCPS officials aren't putting a grade on the
day just yet. They said there is still a lot of assessing that needs to be done
before the day is over.
Tuesday morning, JCPS officials said bus depots ran about
10 to 20 minutes ahead of last year's times and delays are something parents
should expect the first week as everyone gets back into the swing of the school
year.
960 busses rolled out Tuesday, transporting 70,000
students. MetroSafe only had one incident to report of a child getting lost.
Dispatchers said a little girl from Indian Trails Elementary got off the bus and
couldn't find her way back home. A good
Samaritan noticed and called police and she was taken back to school.
