LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The fall allergy season has arrived in Kentuckiana. If you are taking medications including inhalers and symptoms aren't controlled it's time to check in with the doctor.
Mold and ragweed are in the high pollen counts this week.
Patients at Family Allergy and Asthma are complaining of some serious allergy symptoms like wheezing, coughing and a lot of drainage.
Other classic symptoms include sneezing, itchy, watery eyes and headaches.
Dr. Tim Feger is advising patients to use rewetting drops routinely. It will help prevent pollens from sticking to the cornea and causing irritation.
Another tip is to avoid outdoor air when possible, even when the night air temperature drops and you're tempted to turn off the air conditioning, it could make allergy symptoms much worse.
Another tip is to rinse off after outdoor activity and before climbing into bed to help cut down on pollen-type flares.
If you haven't been tested for allergy problems and you're dealing with a lot of symptoms it is time to get tested. It will help patients know better how and what to avoid to survive fall allergy season.
