Officer suspected of causing crash

NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - Investigators believe a New Albany Police officer crashed into another vehicle after running a red light, causing a woman to transported to a hospital Thursday night.

The crash happened around 9 p.m. on State and Market Streets. The Floyd County Police Department investigated the crash and said two witnesses told them the officer ran a red light.

New Albany Officer James Ellis was on a non-emergency run at the time, according to investigators. The other driver's injuries were not serious and the police officer wasn't hurt.
