LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Jefferson
County Attorney Mike O'Connell addressed a panel regarding the need for
legislative changes to expungement and juvenile court confidentiality issues.
Kentucky statutes contain
three definitions for the word 'violation' leading to confusion among the
judiciary regarding misdemeanor expungement eligibility.
Kentucky Juvenile Court
confidentiality statutes are among the strictest in the country, allowing no
public scrutiny of district court cases, regardless of the seriousness of the
crime.
O'Connel has been pushing
the issue since Savannah Dietrich, 17, got in trouble for tweeting about a
sexual attack.
