Identity of 17-year-old stabbing victim released

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The identity of a teenager who was found stabbed Saturday evening in Shively has been released.

Rita Taylor with the Jefferson County Coroner's Office said Darnishia Peoples, 17, was pronounced dead at 10:04 Saturday night at University Hospital. She said Peoples died from multiple sharp force injuries.

Shively police said they received a call of a stabbing in the 2200 block of Peaslee Road around 9:20 Saturday evening.

Police have charged a 17-year-old male with the murder of Peoples. The suspect's name has not been released because he is a juvenile.

Police have not released the relationship between the two. However, they said Peoples and the suspect are not related.
