WAVE 3 Editorial – September 11, 2012: Moving Forward
By Ken Selvaggi WAVE 3 Vice President and General Manager
It was 11 years ago our country prayed together as we began the healing process from a horrific attack that stabbed us all in the gut. The terrorists attacked America, both body and soul.
We won't be the same as we were pre 9/11, but we certainly can continue to move forward.
We were unified 11 years ago and the surge of patriotism helped band aid the wounds. We were moved to make major changes in our lives. We appreciated more deeply our loved ones, the gift of life, and how fleeting our time on earth can be.
We vowed to get to know our neighbors better, our co-workers better, and the members of our faith community better.
How have we done? No doubt there is still much more we can do.
There will be a lot of complaints uttered the next two months about the ills in our country. As we listen to the pre-election rhetoric, reflect how special it is that we can criticize openly and how special it is that we are all empowered to do something about those ills.
We do live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Never take what we have for granted and we will always remain the United States of America.
