Peter Joseph "Duke" Murphy

"Duke" Murphy was born November 23, 1924.  After he graduated from St. Xavier High School in Louisville he joined the Marines.

He was wounded on Iwo Jima where he received a Purple Heart.  One person in his tank was killed during the battle.

After the war he attended the University of Louisville and earned a Law Degree.  After passing the Bar Exam he worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

His work for the FBI was to turn foreign agents into spys for the United States.  From there he worked for the House Appropriations Defence Committee.  He stayed their until his death on April 3, 1984.

Peter Joseph "Duke" Murphy is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
