LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - It is a place for second chances, providing people with a home and a place to restart their college education.

Family Scholar House has three campuses in Louisville that provide the support single parents need to earn a four year education - and now there will be a fourth location.

The ground was officially broken at the new Parkland Family Scholar House campus on Thursday morning.

One of the students who will be attending is Jacklyn Dee Davis, a single mother of twins who is pursuing a musical therapy degree at the University of Louisville. Davis could not be happier with the program, "I could go to school and have a beautiful place to live and take the twins to an adjacent learning center and walk to class."

Cathe Dykstra with the Family Scholar House said the new facility will have several amenities, "There will be student computer center, a family café and nutrition lab, there will be a fitness center."

A ribbon cutting on the new campus is expected to be held in about a year.

The campus will provide homes for 48 single parents.
