Interstate reopens after accident, traffic backed up

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A two car accident shut down a major Louisville interstate Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened just before 4 p.m. on the Gene Snyder Freeway between Stonestreet Road and Dixie Highway. Investigators said a car hit the cable barrier and another car rolled over.

Several ramps were closed because people were driving the wrong way to get off the interstate.

The interstate reopened around 5 Thursday evening.
