COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) -
Kenton County Judge-Executive Steve Arlinghaus announced Friday that an appeals form is available for property owners who feel they should not have to pay an $85 parcel fee for 911 dispatch.
The fee was recently adopted by the county and will appear on county tax bills.
The county is coming up short in fees to finance the new consolidated dispatch center in Independence. Starting this weekend, Covington dispatch will now go through the county.
"The main objective of the appeals form and panel is to alleviate any unintended or unfair hardships that the new fee may cause to the individual taxpayer," said Arlinghaus.
Forms can be found the county's website, www.kentoncounty.org under the 'Dispatch' page. Once completed, they may be returned to the Kenton County Treasurer's Office, 303 Court Street, Room 207, Covington. A recently formed 911 Parcel Fee Appeals Board will review the appeals on a case by case basis.
