LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The man who spent many years building organizations to help the poor only to allegedly steal from those groups will appear in federal court in two weeks.

Stan Curtis is charged with stealing $200,000 from USA Harvest, one of the groups he helped create to feed the poor.

The charities have not done anything wrong according to the feds.

"They believe some of the people in our organization may have known something," said Steve Pence, Kentucky Harvest. "We gave them all the information all the documents they wanted. We're very happy it doesn't involved Kentucky Harvest or Blessings in a Backpack."

Curtis is expected in court October 18. He could face up to 52 years in prison and more than $1 million in fines.
