LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Frost Middle School students who were on bus 1250 when it crashed Friday morning returned to school Monday morning.
The middle school held a meeting for parents and students involved in the crash that allowed them to voice their concerns and speak with counselors. Kathy Malone wanted to voice her concern, she learned of the crash from her son who was on the bus, "He called me from someone's cell phone to let me know it happened." She said she called the school but didn't get many answers. "She knew what happened but she didn't have any details, she told me she would call me back and she never did. [My son] called me both times to tell me that it happened and what hospital he was going to."
Frost Middle School Principal, Jennifer Wilt, said the office had many calls Friday morning, as would be expected, and the staff answered the questions as quickly as they knew the information. "We had district support here helping us address the situation, making sure we were in constant contact via cell phone with the hospitals to make sure we knew for sure where students were."
She said she contacted the families and visited the students in Kosair over the weekend. Monday morning, the students of bus 1250 walked back into school and were welcomed with hugs.
What is so often the dreaded routine of their days, going to school every morning, was at this time yearned for. "I think they were relieved that they were back in school and they were able to be here today just a few days after the accident," said Wilt
There were 48 students on bus 1250 that crashed Friday morning and Principal Wilt said the majority of those students came back to school Monday morning.
