LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville Metro Police Department officer accused of smacking a handcuffed suspect pleaded not guilty.

In court on Wednesday, David Graham was arraigned on charges of harassment with physical contact and official misconduct.

The incident happened on March in Old Louisville while he was arresting John Sanders for a robbery.

Sanders' mother was also in court on Wednesday and said her son is still in jail, "I think some justice need to be served. He was handcuffed, he didn't do that, he didn't do that."

Graham is also charged with criminal mischief in a 2008 case.

Court documents said he admitted to slicing a man's tire in a church parking lot during a police investigation at 4th Street and Magnolia Avenue.

LMPD has placed Graham on administrative duty.
