LOUISVILLE,
KY (WAVE) - The fight between Newburg residents and the Metropolitan Sewer
District over a planned sewage pond was heard in the Metro Council.
Wednesday
neighbors said they want a meeting with Mayor Greg Fischer and MSD to discuss
concerns about the smell and the possibility of more mosquitoes that could
come from the basin set to be located off of Popular Level Road.
One
resident of Newburg, Carolyn Hayes, said if the basin has to be built it should
be done right, "It seems like when we began to enquire they
dug the holes faster. We know the holes are there. Do we really want this
basin? Not at all. But since it's here, why don't they do it right?
MSD pointed out they have a similar sewage
basin located off of Taylor Boulevard that has been running for 15 years,
and that facility has less odor control than the one planned in Newburg.
