LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville
man was indicted on 12 counts after police said he kidnapped a woman who he was
intimately involved with, attacked her and then crashed her car into a ditch.
According to a police
report, around noon on July 20, the victim needed a ride after a meeting, but
when she got in the car she said the driver, James Young, was high.
The victim was able to
escape the car, but Young got out and forced the victim back into the vehicle.
While they were driving Young began punching the victim with a closed fist.
Young then accused the
victim of using his narcotics, ripped off her pants and underwear and sexually
assaulted her. During the assault, Young wrecked the car into a ditch near
Interstate 65 North at the I-265 South off ramp.
When officers arrived at
the scene, the victim told them to arrest Young and Young ran across the northbound
I-65 and southbound I-65 lanes and into the wood line. He came back out of the
woods and ran back across I-65 southbound armed with a stick.
When officers came toward
Young he ran back into the woods. Officers were finally able to apprehend Young
after chasing him in the northbound lane of I-65.
Wednesday, Young was
indicted on 12 counts. One count of adult kidnapping, one count of sexual
abuse, eight counts of wanton endangerment, one count of criminal mischief and
one count of intimidating a participant in the legal process.
